East Antrim Motorcycle Show
Scottish motorcycle racer Eleanor (Elle) Forrest from Glasgow will be jetting in as the main guest at this years East Antrim Motorcycle Show at Downshire School on Friday 1st October evening.
Elle made unique motorcycling history when she won a race during the Pre TT Classic races near Castletown and became the first woman ever to win a road race on the Isle of Man. She has just finished racing at this years Manx Grand Prix where she again had some credible results. The Scottish Health and Safety advisor also runs Marathons as part of her race preparation schedule.
A first for the show will be the appearance of the ex Jamie Whitham Factory World Superbike 750 Suzuki which he rode in the 1998 World Superbike series. For those who enjoyed a slightly earlier era we will have American Grand Prix Rider Pat Hennan's 1977 ex works XR14 Suzuki 500. On this bike he won the 1977 British Grand Prix when acting as team rider with Barry Sheene. (Apologies; we had hoped to have Cadolara's MuZ Moto GP bike here but an essential part for it has not arrived and the owner does not wish to provide an incomplete machine.)
Another first for the show will be the Official Harley-Davidson and Triumph Motorcycles presence this year. Provincewide, Harley-Davidson will be available to sign up for a test rides, Harley Rental and sales of the exotic machines. At least two local Harley enthusiasts will also have machines on display valued at over £20, 000 each
with East Antrim proving popular for Cruisers.
Phillip Mc Callen's Triumph dealership will mix the likes of the largest capacity motorcycle ever made, the new Triumph Rocket 3 with triples from a previous era. The new Triumph Bonneville America has sold well in East Antrim as well the more traditional Bonneville’s that will be on display.
A wide range of Vintage, Classic and Race bikes will also be on display. Local exhibitors include Abbey Leisure and HRW Motorcycles, Carrickfergus. We have again attracted Kickstart Motorcycles from Belfast and are glad to welcome for the first time DND Motorcycle Superstore from Bangor. They also will have some of their Royal Enfield machines available for sale and hand made Davida helmets will be available.
NI Mc Tours Team are sponsoring a number of the voluntary groups or clubs with race and road aspects being represented, e.g. MAG and some motorcycle charitable organisations including CMA, 'A Run For Yer Man' and 'Injured Riders Fund.'
On Saturday morning the 8th NI Peace Ride will leave the Castle at around 11am for the NW area, and this year it will benefit the CMA. The CMA will also be providing refreshments for the ride at the Ballycastle stop. They run a number of Holy Joe cafe's at bike rally's and will be providing a welcome refreshment for every-one.
