Beat the Thieves

The best way to prevent a theft is make it virtually impossible. Here are some tips

  • Use a ground anchor whenever possible even in your garage. 75% of bikes are stolen from the owners home.

  • Always use an approved security device, don’t protect your pride and joy with something that you bought for a few quid. Motorcycle Industry Test Centre, Thatcham will be able to give you a list of devices which passed their tests. www.thatcham.org or 087 0550 2006

  • Don’t park in the same spot every day and always chose somewhere well lit up if parking overnight

  • Keep a low profile. Your neighbours and friends already know you have an R1. Passers by don’t need to see it

  • Use Ultraviolet markings to make it harder for thieves to get away with dismantled parts

  • If accessories are easily removable make sure that the only person who removes them before leaving your bike is you

  • Lock your mates bikes to yours, eliminating the threat of your bike being easily lifted into the back of a van
