Q – What should I do if I need to make a claim? A – Contact the broker immediately or follow the instructions on your policy. Remember the claim must be reported as soon as possible. If you are claiming for theft, attempted theft or malicious damage you must report the incident to the Police and take a note of the crime number.
Q – When can I claim for damage to my bike? A – accidental damage is normally only covered if you have a comprehensive insurance policy, even if you believe the accident was someone else’s fault. If you haven’t got comprehensive cover and believe the accident wasn’t your fault you can submit a claim to the other party.
Q – Can I claim the cost of hiring a replacement bike if mine is unrideable? A – If you were involved in an accident which wasn’t your fault you may be able to do this. However you have a legal duty to keep costs to a minimum and unless its absolutely necessary why contribute to the spiralling cost of insurance for the rest of us? If it is absolutely necessary then stick to a similar machine or less and only hire it for as long as is necessary.
Q – Why have I lost my no claims bonus when the accident wasn’t my fault? A – If you make a claim you’ll only retain your no claims bonus if your insurer is able to claim back the cost from another party, whether the accident was your fault or not.
